Build your medication safety expertise
In response to global demand for medication safety knowledge, ISMP offers two mentorship options ranging from one to two-week programs in ISMP’s suburban Philadelphia office. Each mentorship is designed to give individuals pertinent knowledge and experience to impact current safety challenges in their own organizations. Mentorships provide an enhanced learning experience from medication safety experts and an opportunity to network with colleagues facing similar challenges.

Programs Include
Practitioner in Residence
The one-week Practitioner in Residence program is designed to meet the specific safety and planning needs for practitioners with oversight of medication safety in their organizations.
Participants will learn how to use ISMP’s unique conceptual model for identifying and controlling areas of risk exposure. This can also help meet regulatory and accreditation requirements. Participants will leave with comprehensive resources to support ongoing efforts at their organizations. A certificate of completion will be awarded at the end of the program.
International Practitioner in Residence
The two-week International Mentorship is a customized program designed to meet the unique needs of international healthcare practitioners and organizations wishing to engage in top-level medication safety activities.
Participants have an opportunity to apply advanced concepts in medication safety, assist in the analysis of errors and selection of safety strategies, and work one-on-one with ISMP expert staff to maximize their facility’s medication safety efforts. Time can be spent on the development or enhancement of a strategic medication safety plan for participants’ individual facilities/countries.
Applicants must be fluent in speaking, reading, and writing English.
