  • Identify and Mitigate Risks - Get tools to proactively address safety events, compliance challenges, and operational vulnerabilities before they impact care.

For more information, or if you would like to set up an on-site meeting with one of our specialists, please contact us at communications@ecri.org.

Speakers

May 1, 2025 | Using Systems Thinking to Resolve ASC Patient Safety Events

This presentation will shift your paradigm for understanding and preventing safety events in ASCs by recounting the story of two lost specimen events. A root cause analysis often identifies the clinicians involved, reviews the sequence of tasks and processes, and finds deviations from the expected sequence, which results in clinicians being retrained. However, by applying the principles of human factors engineering and systems thinking, you can more effectively address the root causes of recurring safety challenges. Discover how systems thinking can provide lasting solutions and proactively help you build the safety infrastructure your organization needs.
