Healthcare Environmental Manager (HEM) Certification Course
ECRI's Healthcare Environmental Management (HEM) certifies safety and security professionals so they can stay up to date on the evolving healthcare environment. The HEM certification course covers best practices in the following areas: safety from a system perspective, occupational safety, accident investigation, hazard vulnerability analysis, emergency management, infection prevention, ergonomics, laboratory safety, security and workplace violence, industrial hygiene, indoor air quality, bloodborne pathogens, and waste management.
The HEM certification course also promotes compliance as outlined by the Joint Commission, Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Environmental Protection Agency, National Fire Protection Association, and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission.
Effective December 31, 2024, ECRI will no longer offer the Healthcare Environmental Manager (HEM) Certification Course. If you purchase the course on or before December 31, 2024, you will have up to one year from the date of purchase to complete the course.
The online course consists of 20 modules and can be accessed via computer or mobile device. Modules range from one to three hours long and are presented via recordings from the live classroom presentation.
The HEM certification is earned through a 2.5 hour, 100 question, open-book exam. After completing and passing the exam with a 70 or higher, participants can then use the HEM designation. This course is approved for CA state nursing hours; certificates can be printed upon the completion of each course.
Once your order is approved, you will receive an email from helpdesk@ecri.org with instructions on how to access the ECRI Learning resource. Orders are typically processed in 2-3 business days.
You will have one year to complete the modules and then take the exam.
