Serving Those Who Served: How Healthcare Leaders Can Support Women Veterans

Overview

Women are the fastest growing group in the veteran population, with 2 million female veterans in the United States today. Women veterans make up an increasing share of all Veteran Affairs users, with a projected increase to 11% by 2024. Compared to their male counterparts, women veterans are more likely to have lifelong post-traumatic stress disorder, depression, suicidal ideation, and other mental health challenges.

In support of national Women Veterans Recognition Day, ECRI hosted an important panel discussion featuring experts in women veteran health issues. Join leaders from Florida Army National Guard, Travis Mills Foundation, The Pink Berets, and ECRI for a discussion on how healthcare leaders and providers can redesign systems to meet the unique needs of women that have served in our U.S. armed forces.

An introduction is provided by Marcus Schabacker, MD, PhD, ECRI President and CEO.

The panel is facilitated by Shannon Davila, MSN, RN, CPPS, CPHQ, CIC, FAPIC, Director of ECRI Total Systems Approach to Safety, and a veteran of the United States Air Force.
